ARE YOU GUILTY OF MAKING THESE FIVE MISTAKES WHEN HIRING A CARPET CLEANER?
MISTAKE #1: Choosing a carpet cleaner based on equipment alone. No question, your carpet cleaner needs first-rate equipment. But he also needs something else. He needs the skills and knowledge to operate the equipment properly. This comes from both training and experience. Many technicians may have gone through the IICRC (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification). However, all this technical knowledge won’t do you any good if it isn’t combined with solid practical experience. Before you choose a company, make sure they know what they are doing.
Of course, there is also the x-factor you need to consider. Going beyond equipment, skills, training, and experience, this x-factor trumps them all. What is the x-factor? Your carpet cleaning technician’s attitude to the job at hand. Do they care about the results they deliver? Are they willing to over-deliver? Attitude comes from within. It can’t be trained or taught. Either they have it or they don’t. A well trained, well-equipped carpet cleaner without the x-factor will be able to provide you with a valid excuse as to why they failed to meet your expectations.
Of course, you can always use Santos Carpet Cleaning. We have the first-rate equipment, the IICRC certification training and over 15 years of practical experience under our belts.
MISTAKE #2: Choosing a carpet cleaner based on low price. Low price could be a problem in three ways:
- Low price can be the bait that attracts your phone call. But once the cleaner gets into your office, they pressure you into a more expensive job.
- Low price can be for single-process cleaning. Rarely does the consumer know what this means and, when told, asks for the dual-process cleaning instead which costs more.
- Low price means the carpet cleaner has cheap equipment, which will not effectively clean your carpet.
MISTAKE #3: Choosing a carpet cleaner based on a single phone call. Instead, invite the person to your facility and ask for a specific written quotation. Then you’ll know exactly what the carpet cleaner recommends-and you won’t be the victim of high-pressure sales tactics when the technician steps into your offices. That is why Santos Carpet Cleaning will give you a detailed, itemized quotation so that you choose what gets done.
MISTAKE #4: Choosing a carpet cleaner who doesn’t offer a money-back guarantee. In my view, every carpet cleaning company should be fully accountable for its work. And, if you are not pleased with the job in every way, you shouldn’t have to pay for it. Period. Not all carpet cleaners offer a guarantee. Or, if they do, the guarantee may be ‘limited’. Ask the carpet cleaner if he offers a money-back guarantee and then confirms that they include the guarantee on their written quotation.
MISTAKE #5: Choosing a carpet cleaner that does not use an approved cleaning method.
Of course, if you decide to use Santos Carpet Cleaning, then you have nothing to worry about. Santos Carpet Cleaning uses The Carpet and Rug Institutes (CRI) Gold Seal approved cleaning methods.
